Completing the Race

¹ Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, ² looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.


Guys, God has given us this respite from the daily toils we faced and now He calls us once more to follow Him as He leads us through another journey. We must support each other in this race and fight to make it through. God gives us the endurance to run the race, because He says that He will never place before us a temptation we cannot overcome. He will walk us through all our trials. But do we doubt? Yes, we doubt we fall and we fail, but we get up and try again. Because He will be by our side no matter what.

Seniors who read this, He has brought you this far, what makes you think He won't take you the rest of the way? We may be troubled and some of us may not make it through, but he will make all things work together for our good. Therefore let your bodies be presented as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God. We must finish the race, glorifying God no matter what along the way. Just remember Him in everything as you travel through this last semester, I know it will be difficult but we need to do everything we can to stay strong.

Eric Little was a runner. He actually told the people at the Olympics he would not run in a race on Sunday and actually dropped out his original race and switched to another in order to maintain this. He won the gold medal. One of his most notable quotes from this time period was, "I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure." God gave you the ability to do things others can't and He is pushing us towards the end of our race so we can be home with Him. Take this last semester and feel His pleasure when you glorify Him. Its so much greater than His disappointment. Its so much greater than any feeling you could possibly imagine. His joy in you is so great when you please Him. Its unfathomable. He loves YOU.
